This is an extremely rare multiple example of Arthroacantha from the Arkona Shale of Canada. Usually, specimens from the Arkona site are very fragile due to the soft shale matrix. However, about 15 years ago, a very small pocket of these crinoids was found on a harder, more limey substrate. This specimen was part of that pocket and has been in a major crinoid collection for the last 15 years. There are five crinoids represented on the plate - three have some stem preserved, with one having an unusually long stem articulated. The crinoids are very 3-dimensional and well positioned on the natural matrix plate. The fossils have good natural color and great contrast with the matrix. The plate structure of the inflated cups is wonderful, and the arms are splayed showing the delicate pinnules. This is a great example of one of the few Arthroacantha multiples we have ever seen from this site, found over 15 years ago.
