Here is an unusual specimen of two large crinoids. Two inflated Physetocrinus ventricosus are displayed on the slab. This type of crinoid has extremely stellate plates, and the stem attachment points are easily seen. Both of the crinoids are very 3-dimensional and exhibit great detail. Sitting on one of the crinoids is a blastoid, Schizoblastus sayi. This melon-shaped blastoid has narrow ambulacra and very long deltoid plates. The whitish color of the fossils contrasts beautifully with the orangish-brown matrix. The echinoderms are well presented on the rectangular plate that is loaded with other crinoid fragments. This is a wonderful plate of different echinoderms from the Mississippian of Missouri.
