Here is a beautiful crinoid that we recently obtained from a major crinoid collection. This is Brabeocrinus christinae from the Pennsylvanian of Illinois. This crinoid was named for Christina Cleburne Strimple who found the site. This location has been closed to collecting for many years. This type has a small, heavily sculpted cup with uniserial arms that branch several times. This crinoid is extremely 3-dimensional and preserves exquisite detail. The plate structure of the cup is superb, and the somewhat zig-zag arms are totally complete with short, stout pinnules. The spiked anal tube is somewhat evident above the tips of the arms. The crinoid has wonderful pinkish-white coloration, which is totally natural. This is a gorgeous specimen of Brabeocrinus from a site that is no longer open.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
