Here is a very attractive crinoid specimen. This piece is from the Warsaw Formation of Illinois. There are two large examples of different species of Dizygocrinus on the plate. Both crinoids are very 3-dimensional and exhibit great detail. The crowns show good plate structure and the feathery arms are very nicely defined. Both of the crinoids have long stems attached that criss cross each other in a 3-dimensional manner. The natural-colored fossils contrast wonderfully with the grey matrix. The crinoids are well positioned on the somewhat rectangular plate of siltstone. The crinoids have been prepared in high relief for optimal display. This is a rare plate with two different species of Dizygocrinus from Illinois.
