Here is a nice crinoid specimen that we recently obtained from an old collection. This is an uncommon Zeacrinites sp. from the Mississippian. This crinoid was collected many years ago in the Chesterian Beds near Anna, Illinois. This site has been closed to collecting for a number of years. This type of crinoid has MANY multi-branching, uniserial arms. This specimen is extremely inflated and has very good color and contrast. The fossil is very well centered on the rectangular plate of limestone that is just loaded with bryozoans. This is a very fine example of this distinct crinoid from the Fraileys Formation.
