This is an outstanding echinoderm association from the Mississippian of Indiana. There is a wonderful crinoid and a gorgeous starfish on the plate. The crinoid on the left side of the matrix block is Macrocrinus mundulus. This Macrocrinus exhibits feathery, biserial arms and a long anal tube - much longer than usual for this type. This crinoid also has a lenghthy stem still attached to the crown. The fossil on the right side of the plate is Onychaster flexilis. This large brittlestar is very inflated and has absolutely wonderful detail. The plate structure is superb and the long, winding arms even display the tube feet of the animal. The fossils have excellent color and contrast and are well spaced on the somewhat rectangular plate of siltstone. This is a very displayable specimen of a rare crinoid and starfish double from Crawfordsville.
