This is a gorgeous plate of crinoids from the famous Mississippian layers near Crawfordsville, Indiana. There is a large Ulrichicrinus coryphaeus and two smaller crinoids on this slab. Ulrichicrinus is not a common crinoid from any site, and a specimen of this quality is indeed quite rare. This type of crinoid has a large, cone-shaped cup and extremely long, uniserial arms - these features are beautifully displayed on this crinoid. The sea lily exhibits extraordinary detail - the plate structure is very distinct. The arms are complete to the very tips, which is extremely uncommon. The other crinoids on the plate are Cyathocrinites. Both of these crinoids are also well preserved. The echinoderms have outstanding color and contrast and are wonderfully showcased on the natural plate of matrix. And best of all, the crinoids are totally natural to the plate - they have not been composited. This is a stunning specimen of Ulrichicrinus - one of the best we have seen.
