This is a very large specimen of Uperocrinus pyriformis from the Upper Burlington Formation of Missouri. The crinoid is fully inflated and 3-D. The plate structure is very nice - the large, smooth plates of the cup contrast well with the smaller, very nodose plates of the tegmen. The arm attachment points are quite evident. A specimen of an uncommon blastoid, Globoblastus norwoodi, is also present on the slab. This blastoid also shows very good detail. The invaginated base, the very thin ambulacra, and the single spiracles are all well displayed. The fossils have very good natural color and display beautifully on the orange plate of crinoidal limestone. This is a very striking crinopid/blastoid association specimen from the Upper Burlington.
