This is an extremely unusual crinoid. It is a fabulous Cydrocrinus concinnus from the Mississippian of Indiana. This type of crinoid has a small, cone-shaped cup with long, uniserial arms that are comprised of tiny wedge-shaped plates. It is highly uncommon to find this crinoid with the arms so well preserved. Most of the time when this scarce crinoid is found, the arms are broken off short or missing entirely. This specimen is extremely unusual in that the arms are complete to the tiny tips and are folded inward at the very top. A portion of the somewhat pentagonal stem is still tightly attached to the cup. The ''sea lily'' is also nicely inflated and has great color and contrast. It is almost perfectly centered on the rectangular plate of siltstone that also contains a small inadunate crinoid. This is a textbook specimen of this rare crinoid from Crawfordsville, Indiana.
