Here is an unusual crinoid that we recently acquired. It is a large Eucalyptocrinus crassus plate from the Silurian of Indiana. The site where this specimen was found is now filled with water and closed to collecting. The larger crinoid is fully inflated and has excellent detail - the plate structure of the cup is intact, and the arm supports are beautifully displayed. The dark brown color of the fossil contrasts wonderfully with the gray matrix. The crinoid is nicely presented on the large, natural plate of shale that also contains another Eucalyptocrinus cup. This is a very fine double specimen of Eucalyptocrinus crassus from the Waldron Shale.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
