This is a gorgeous plate of fossil crinoids from the famous Mississippian layers near Crawfordsville, Indiana. There are eight crinoids on this plate, of five different types! The largest crinoid on the plate is a beautiful Forbesiocrinus multibrachiatus. This crinoid is eleven inches long, with nine inches of stem attached - wow! There are also three Macrocrinus mundulus (one with a rare split anal tube!), three Scytalocrinus (two S. gorbyi and one S. multibrachiatus), and one large Actinocrinites gibsoni. The crinoids exhibit wonderful detail - the plate structure of the echinoderms is clearly defined. The fossils have outstanding color and contrast and are aesthetically displayed on the LARGE rectangular plate of siltstone. And best of all, the ''sea lilies'' are totally natural to the slab - they have not been composited. This is a very displayable and highly collectible crinoid plate from Indiana.
