Here is an aesthetic specimen of a crinoid preserved in the ''starburst'' position. This fossil is from the famous Gilmore City Crinoid Quarry which is now closed to collecting. A wonderful example of Eretmocrinus tentor is preserved in the middle of the plate. This crinoid is beautifully displayed with the arms in the textbook ''starburst'' position. The crinoid still has the long stem present, which is very unusual. The fossil echinoderm has great color and contrast and is nicely positioned on the squared plate of matrix that also contains three other small crinoid crowns. This is a very attractive plate of crinoids from a classic locality that is now closed to collecting.
