Here is a very interesting specimen of Macrocrinus mundulus from Indiana. This crinoid is very unusual in that ALL the arms have been regenerated. Some injury or disease destroyed the original arms and the arms that have regenerated are very small and stunted. The anal tube, however, must have kept growing and is quite long. The crinoid exhibits good detail - the plate structure of the cup is very well defined, and the small, biserial arms show the extremely fine pinnules. A portion of stem is still attached to the base of the crinoid. This is a unique specimen of Macrocrinus from the famous Crawfordsville site that has an amazing story to tell.
