This is a very detailed crinoid. It is an Abrotocrinus coreyi from the Mississippian of Illinois. This type of crinoid has a small, bowl-shaped cup with long, branching, uniserial arms. This specimen is extremely well preserved and exhibits fine detail. The plate structure of the cup is clearly defined, and the pinnules of the arms are beautifully displayed. A long, pentagonal stem is still attached to the crinoid, and a few small cirri are easily seen. The crinoid has excellent color and contrast and is nicely showcased on the large matrix plate. This is a very fine specimen of Abrotocrinus from the Warsaw Formation.
