This is an excellent pair of crinoids. It is a natural double plate with a large Platycrinites saffordi and an excellent Scytalocrinus decadactylus preserved. The Platycrinites is extremely inflated and has all of the arms complete to the tips, which is rare. A portion of the corkscrew stem is still intact. The Platycrinites also has a Platyceras gastropod tightly attached to the cup. This gastropod lived off the excrement from the crinoid, and in doing so, cleaned up the surrounding environment so the crinoid could keep living. The Scytalocrinus is wonderfully preserved and is also complete to the very tips of the arms. This crinoid retains a sizeable section of its stem. Both crinoids are beautifully spaced on the squared block of siltstone. This is a very displayable specimen of two incredibly complete crinoids preserved together.
