Here is a wonderful specimen of a large Dizygocrinus biturbinatus from the Warsaw Formation of Illinois. This camerate crinoid has a roundish cup comprised of many plates and long, unbranching, biserial arms. The arms are complete to the very tips on this specimen and even display some fine pinnules. A long stem is tightly articulated to the cup, with many long cirri still attached to the stem. The dark color of the crinoid contrasts nicely with the green-grey matrix. And there is even a small Abrotocrinus coreyi sitting on the crown of the Dizygocrinus! This is a very collectible example of Dizygocrinus biturbinatus from the Mississippian of Illinois.
