This is a very nice plate of crinoids from the Mississippian of Indiana. On the left side of the slab is a very large Actinocrinites gibsoni. This type of Camerate crinoid has a large cup with stellate plates and multi-branching, biserial arms. This ''sea lily'' showcases its ornate anal tube - it is easily seen between the split groupings of arms and extending above the tips of the arms. The plate structure of this echinoderm is very impressive and the arms are beautifully showcased. Partially hidden under the Actino is a fine Cyathocrinites multibrachiatus. This crinoid also has great detail preserved. The fossils have excellent color and contrast and are nicely positioned on the squared plate of siltstone. And best of all, they are totally natural to the plate - they have not been composited. This is a very attractive double crinoid specimen from the Edwardsville Formation.
