This is a gorgeous plate of crinoids from the famous Mississippian layers near Crawfordsville, Indiana. There are two specimens of Ulrichicrinus coryphaeus on this slab. Ulrichicrinus is not a common crinoid from any site, and a double specimen of this quality is indeed quite rare. This type of crinoid has a large, cone-shaped cup and extremely long, uniserial arms. These features are beautifully displayed on both of these crinoids. The ''sea lilies'' exhibit extraordinary detail - the plate structure is very distinct. The arms are complete to the very tips, which is extremely uncommon. The crinoid on the right side of the slab has two of the arms in a splayed position, and the long pinnules of the arms are clearly defined. Both of the crinoids still have a sizeable portion of the stem intact. The echinoderms have outstanding color and contrast and are wonderfully presented on the oval plate of matrix. And best of all, they are totally natural to the plate - they have not been composited. This is a stunning specimen of Ulrichicrinus - the best we have ever seen.
