This is an unusual crinoid. It is a Pachylocrinus gibsoni from the Mississippian of Indiana. This type of inadunate crinoid has a small, bowl-shaped cup with long, multi-branching uniserial arms. This echinoderm is nicely inflated and exhibits fine detail. The plate structure of the crinoid is well defined, and the somewhat splayed arms are complete to the very tips. The coarse pinnules of the arms are quite evident. A long, curving, articulated stem is still tightly attached to the cup. The ''sea lily'' has excellent color and contrast and is aesthetically presented on the rectangular plate of matrix. This is a very attractive crinoid from the famous Edwardsville Formation.
