This is a gorgeous plate of fossil crinoids from the famous Mississippian layers near Crawfordsville, Indiana. There are fifteen crinoids on this plate, of eleven different types! At the top of the plate is an excellent Agaricocrinus splendens with long stem and cirri. In the middle of the plate, on the left side, is a beautiful specimen of a HUGE Decadocrinus tumidulus. The large camerate crinoid on the right side of the slab is Actinocrinites gibsoni. A robust Forbesiocrinus multibrachiatus, a Flexible crinoid, is positioned between the two previous specimens. All of these crinoids have extremely long, articulated stems tightly attached to the crowns. In addition to these specimens there are also two examples of Macrocrinus mundulus with long anal tubes, another Agaricocrinus splendens, a robust Parascytalocrinus hamiltonensis, a Pachylocrinus sp., another Actinocrinites gibsoni, an unusual Camptocrinus myelodactylus, a scarce Hylodecrinus, another Decadocrinus tumidulus, and two unidentified Inadunate crinoids. The crinoids exhibit wonderful detail - the plate structure of the echinoderms is clearly defined. The fossils have outstanding color and contrast and are aesthetically displayed on the LARGE rectangular plate of siltstone. And best of all, the ''sea lilies'' are totally natural to the slab - they have not been composited. This is a very displayable and highly collectible crinoid plate from Indiana.
