This is a very rare crinoid specimen. It is a Megistocrinus ? from the Devonian of New York. This crinoid was found many years ago at a site that is well-known for Dipleura trilobites. It is the only crinoid specimen that we have ever seen from this location. The sea lily is unusually preserved as an internal cast. The plate structure of the crinoid is wonderfully defined, and many of the arms can even be seen, which is highly uncommon for this type of preservation. An impression of the stem is also quite evident. The natural brown color of the fossil contrasts nicely with the grayish matrix. The crinoid is well positioned on the somewhat rectangular plate. This is a very interesting specimen of a scarce crinoid from an unusual location.
