Here is a unique crinoid specimen that we recently obtained from an old collection. This plate was collected many years ago in the Chesterian Beds near Anna, Illinois. On the left side of the slab is a very unusual, unidentified crinoid. This crinoid has a tiny cup with compact, multi-branching, uniserial arms. An excellent Pentaramicrinus sp. is positioned on the right side of the plate. This type of crinoid has a small, bowl-shaped cup with stout, uniserial arms. Both crinoids are very 3-dimensional and exhibit fine detail - the plate structure of the echinoderms is beautifully defined. There is a corkscrew-shaped bryozoan, Archimedes sp., near the very top of the slab. The fossils have great color and contrast and are wonderfully positioned on the somewhat rectangular plate of limestone that is loaded with other bryozoans. This is a nice specimen of two different crinoids associated with bryozoans from a closed location.
