Here is a very pretty crinoid. This is Scyphocrinites sp. from the Silurian of Morocco. This large camerate crinoid is quite inflated and has a huge cup composed of many, many stellate plates. The extremely long, multi-branching arms are uniserial in nature and beautifully display the fine pinnules. The dark gray crinoid contrasts wonderfully with the reddish matrix and is well centered on the oval plate of limestone that also contains many crinoid stems and a portion of arms from another crinoid. This is a nicely detailed example of Scyphocrinites from Morocco.
