Here is a very nice Ordovician crinoid. This is Ectenocrinus sp. from Kentucky. This type of crinoid has a small, cone-shaped cup with long, uniserial arms that branch only once. This specimen is inflated and exhibits fine detail. The plate structure of the crinoid is well defined. The articulated stem is still attached to the cup. The fossil has good color and contrast. It is well centered on the squared matrix plate that contains many other crinoid stems. This is a very nice example of this primitive Ordovician crinoid.
