This is an unusual crinoid. It is an Iocrinus subcrassus from Cincinnati, Ohio. This specimen came from an old collection, as they find very few of this type anymore. This crinoid has tendril-like arms and a large, segmented anal sac. The reverse side of the plate has been prepared to expose the ornate cup of the crinoid and the pentagonal stem. The crinoid has great color and contrast. It is well centered on the rounded plate of matrix. This is a very nice Ordovician crinoid that came from an old collection.
