Here is a very attractive crinoid specimen. This piece is from the Warsaw Formation of Illinois. There are two large examples of Dizygocrinus biturbinatus on the plate. Both crinoids are very 3-dimensional and exhibit great detail. The crowns show good plate structure and the feathery arms are very nicely defined. The crown on the right even displays the anal tube extending above the tops of the arms. Both of the crinoids have long stems attached that cross each other near the bottom of the plate. Many of the cirri are nicely exposed. The naturally multi-colored fossils contrast wonderfully with the gray matrix. They are well positioned on the somewhat rounded plate of siltstone. The crinoids have been prepared in high relief for optimal display. This is one of the best specimens of Dizygocrinus biturbinatus we have ever seen.
