This is a wonderful specimen of Teleiocrinus umbrosus from the Mississippian of Iowa. Finding a crinoid from the Burlington Formation with stem attached is almost unheard of - this specimen has a very long articulated stem attached. The crinoid is extremely 3-dimensional and preserves excellent detail. The cup of the crinoid has very rugose plates and the tegmen has very nodose plates. The anal tube is nicely displayed and the arm attachment points are easily seen. The white color of the crinoid contrasts nicely with the grayish-orange matrix. The fossil is beautifully centered on the large rectangular plate of limestone. This is an irreplaceable specimen of Teleiocrinus umbrosus from the Burlington Formation.
