This is a very pretty specimen of Macrocrinus mundulus. This crinoid is from the famous Mississippian deposits near Crawfordsville, Indiana. This large specimen has it all. A section of the stem is attached to the cup. The cup is extremely inflated and shows good plate structure. The long, complete, feathery arms are a little spread and display the fine pinnules between the arms. The anal tube of the crinoid is easily seen extending above the tops of the arms. The fossil has very nice color and contrast. It is well positioned on the rounded plate of siltstone. This is a "classic" specimen of Macrocrinus mundulus.
