This is a beautiful specimen of Macrocrinus mundulus from the famous Mississippian deposits near Crawfordsville, Indiana. The crinoid is extremely inflated and exhibits fine detail. The robust cup of the crinoid shows good plate structure. The long, unbranching arms are complete to the very tips and display the fine pinnules. The anal tube extends above the arms and is quite noticeable. A lengthy portion of stem is attached to the cup. The fossil has very nice color and contrast. The crinoid is almost perfectly centered on the squared matrix plate. There is also another crinoid stem preserved on the plate of siltstone. This is a very aesthetic specimen of Macrocrinus from a world-famous site.
