Here are two different crinoids from the Mississippian of Iowa. On the left side of the slab is the large disc-shaped crinoid, Eutrochocrinus christyi. On the right side is Azygocrinus rotundus, a very spherical crinoid calyx. Both crinoids are extremely 3-dimensional. The plate structure of the crinoids is quite evident. The arm attachment points are easily seen. The fossils have excellent, off-white color and contrast nicely with the brown matrix. They are well positioned on the semi-rectangular block of limestone. This is a very nice specimen of two different crinoids from the Upper Burlington Formation.
