This is a nice crinoid plate from the famous Crawfordsville, Indiana vicinity. On the left of the plate is a very robust specimen of Gilbertsocrinus tuberosus. The tegmen of this strange camerate crinoid is beautifully displayed. The long, curving appendages off the tegmen (these are not the arms) are quite evident. This specimen is unusual in that it retains the very delicate, wispy arms of the crinoid. These are easily seen between the stout appendages. On the right side of the plate is an example of Macrocrinus mundulus. This crinoid exhibits fine detail. The plate structure of the cup is nicely defined. The long arms of the crinoid show the pinnules. A goodly portion of the articulated stem is still attached. The fossils are very 3-dimensional. They have good color and great contrast. This is a very nice specimen of camerate crinoids from the Mississippian.
