Here is a multiple plate of crinoids from the Ordovician of Canada. There are three crinoids on this large slab. The camerate crinoid at the top of the plate has an urn-shaped cup composed of relatively few plates and long, multi-branching, uniserial arms. An extremely long stem is still tightly attached to the cup. An inadunate crinoid is positioned to the right of this long stem. This crinoid has a small, bowl-shaped cup and very thin, uniserial arms. This crinoid also retains a portion of the stem. At the bottom of the plate is another crinoid. This specimen has the arms in the "splayed" position. The cream-colored echinoderms contrast nicely with the dark gray matrix. The fossils are well positioned on the rectangular plate of limestone. This is an interesting specimen of Ordovician crinoids from Canada.
