Now this is a rare crinoid. It is a complete Adinocrinus sp. from Missouri. This specimen came from an old collection from the Midwest - it would have had to. Doug DeRosear has been collecting crinoids from the Midwest for well over 30 years, and says this is the only one of this type he has ever seen. And it is not just an "example", it is complete and has the stem intact! This crinoid has great detail. The fine pinnules on the arms are even preserved. The crinoid is free of matrix and has been prepared on both sides. And there is even over an inch of stem still attached. Anyone that knows anything about crinoids from the Keokuk Formation will appreciate this specimen. This could be a one-of-a-kind specimen of this quality from this locality.
