This is a nice double crinoid specimen from the Upper Burlington Formation of Iowa. The crinoid on the right is Actinocrinites lobatus. This species of crinoid is very rare. The bulbous plates of this crinoid are easily seen. The arm attachment points are quite evident. The crinoid on the left is Macrocrinus verneuilianus. Both crinoids are totally inflated. The crinoids have great, off-white color and contrast nicely with the brownish matrix. Many other crinoid fragments are present on the plate. This is a fine specimen of this scarce species of Actinocrinites from the Mississippian of Iowa.
