This is a very attractive crinoid. It is a well-preserved Histocrinus coreyi from the Mississippian of Indiana. This type of crinoid has a small, bowl-shaped cup with long, uniserial arms. All of the arms are unusually complete to the very tips, and the stout pinnules are beautifully displayed. A lengthy section of round stem is still tightly attached to the cup. An extremely thin stem, perhaps belonging to a blastoid or a juvenile crinoid, is tightly wrapped around the stem of the Histocrinus. The 3-dimensional fossil has great color and contrast and is wonderfully centered on the plate of siltstone. This is an excellent specimen of this uncommon crinoid from a famous site.
