Here is an excellent multiple crinoid plate. It is a natural "death assemblage" slab of Mississippian crinoids from Crawfordsville, Indiana. There are many, many crinoids representing nine different types on the plate. Represnted on the plate are five Macrocrinus, one Actinocrinites, three Abrotocrinus, one Hylodecrinus, two Halysiocrinus, one Barycrinus, two Cyathocrinites (each a different species), one Camptocrinus, and one unidentified inadunate crinoid. WOW! It is very unusual to find this many types of crinoids on one plate. Almost all of the crinoids have the arms still intact and many of the crinoids have some stem still attached. The crinoids are wonderfully preserved in a 3-dimensional fashion and exhibit fine detail. The plate structure of the individual crinoids is very well defined. The fossils have great color and contrast. They are beautifully presented on the large, semi-rectangular plate of siltstone. This is an extremely eye-catching display plate of many types of crinoids from the Paleozoic sea.
