Here is a very pretty crinoid plate from the Mississippian of Illinois. The specimen on the left side of the plate is Hylodecrinus sp. This nice crinoid exhibits fine plate structure and multi-branching, uniserial arms. A long, aesthetically curving stem is attached to this "sea lily". The specimen on the right side is a beautiful example of Abrotocrinus coreyi. This crinoid also has the stem attached. The strongly-pinnulated arms are complete to the very tips. There is also a third crinoid, a juvenile specimen, in the upper left corner. The fossils have great color and contrast. They are wonderfully presented on the large rectangular plate of siltstone. This is a very displayable crinoid plate from the Warsaw Formation.
