Here is one of the most aesthetic crinoid crowns from the Warsaw Formation that we have ever seen. This is a large Pachylocrinus briareus from the Mississippian of Illinois. This crown is somewhat inflated and exhibits fabulous detail. A short section of the pentagonal stem is attached to the multi-plated cup. The uniserial arms are very distinct and display the branching pattern very nicely. The arms are complete to the very tips and the tiny pinnules are quite evident. The fossil has wonderful color and contrast. It is well positioned on the semi-rectangular plate of matrix. This is a very pretty Pachylocrinus from the Warsaw Formation.
