This may be one of the rarest crinoid pieces we have ever offered for sale. It is a multiple plate of Isocrinus oregonensis from the Oligocene! This specimen was found many, many years ago - this site has been closed to collecting for a long time. This large slab of unusual crinoids has been in the DeRosear Collection for the last 30 years. There are four examples of Isocrinus on the plate. These 3-dimensional crinoids are wonderfully replaced by calcite - not the typical mold and cast preservation that is usually seen at this location. The fossils exhibit excellent detail - the plate structure is clearly defined. The uniserial arms of this type of crinoid have extremely long, slender pinnules which are easily seen on these specimens. The crinoids have outstanding color and contrast and are well presented on the somewhat triangular plate of matrix. This is an extremely displayable plate of Tertiary crinoids. A crinoid plate such as this may not become available for another 30 years.
