This is a striking crinoid. It is a Histocrinus coreyi from the famous Mississippian layers near Crawfordsville, Indiana. This type of crinoid has a cone-shaped cup with extremely long, uniserial arms that exhibit short, stout pinnules. These features are wonderfully displayed on this specimen. A short section of stem is still tightly attached to the cup of the crinoid. This inflated ''sea lily'' has great color and contrast and is well presented on the somewhat rectangular plate of siltstone that also contains another long section of crinoid stem. This is a very detailed example of this uncommon crinoid from Crawfordsville.
