This is a great display plate of Devonian crinoids. There are two fine examples of Arthroacantha carpenteri on this slab - they are natural to the plate, not composited. Both crinoids are quite large and wonderfully inflated. They are unusually complete and exhibit very good detail. The plate structure is easily seen, and the multi-branching arms display the tiny pinnules in beautiful fashion. The crinoids have been replaced by iron pyrite or ''fool's gold'' and contrast well with the gray matrix. They are nicely presented on the somewhat rectangular plate of shale that also contains several brachiopods. This is a very unique double crinoid specimen from the famous Silica Shale.
