Here is a stunning plate of crinoids from the Mississippian of Indiana. There are nine crinoid crowns (six different types) on this large slab. These crinoids are all natural to the plate - there has been no compositing or addition of specimens to this remarkable slab. In the lower right corner of the plate is a fine example of Culmicrinus sp. The other three large crinoids on the right side of the slab are Aphelocrinus oweni. Two examples of Cymbiocrinus tumidus are also present - upper left corner and lower left corner of the slab. A beautiful specimen of Zeacrinites wortheni is positioned above the lowermost Cymbiocrinus. Above the Zeacrinites is a complete crown of Phanocrinus bellulus. A smaller unidentified crinoid lies between the Aphelocrinus and the Cymbiocrinus near the top of the plate. The crinoids are all nicely inflated and exhibit very fine detail. They have good color and contrast and are well positioned on the rectangular plate of limestone that also contains many Archimedes bryozoans and other crinoid fragments. This is a very displayable plate of crinoids from the Bangor Limestone of Alabama.
