This is an excellent plate of crinoids from the famous site at Crawfordsville, Indiana. There are thirteen crinoid crowns on the plate.
In the middle of the plate is a specimen of Actinocrinites gibsoni. This camerate crinoid has a very ornate, stellate-plated, cup. The arms display the fine pinnules. The long, nodose, anal tube is very well defined. It shows nice recurvature at the top.
There are five Macrocrinus mundulus crowns present on the slab. They show great plate structure. All of the Macrocrinus specimens display the long anal tubes in some sort of fashion. Three specimens show just the tip sticking out above the arms. They have finely pinnulated arms. Two Macrocrinus exhibit almost the entire length of the anal tube.
There is a large Platycrinites hemisphericus cup with a beautiful, dark brown, gastropod attached. A Scytalocrinus robustus is present. This crinoid has a long stem attached. There is a beautiful specimen of an unusual Barycrinus near the top of the slab. This specimen is fantastic. The plate and arm structure are just superb. A terrific specimen of Onychocrinus ramulosus with long stem is on the slab. There are three other crinoids also on the slab.
The crinoids have been prepared in very high relief. The fossils have great color and contrast. This is a wonderful display plate of Crawfordsville crinoids.
