Here is a nice plate of two different crinoids from the famous Mississippian strata near Crawfordsville, Indiana. In the center of the plate is an extremely rare Springericrinus magniventrus. This inadunate crinoid has a cone-shaped cup with highly ornamented plates and long, multi-branching, uniserial arms. These features are wonderfully displayed on this specimen. The wide, ''corrugated'' anal tube, indicative of this genus, is beautifully exhibited between the arms of this crinoid. Near the top of the plate is a fine example of Parascytalocrinus hamiltonensis. This crinoid has a bowl-shaped cup with long, uniserial arms that are heavily pinnulated. Both of the inflated crinoids still have a portion of the stem attached. The fossils have nice color and contrast and are well positioned on the rounded, rectangular plate of siltstone. This is a great specimen of a highly unusual Springericrinus from Crawfordsville that just happens to have an attractive Parascytalocrinus on the same piece.
