Here is an unusual crinoid. This is a fine specimen of Iocrinus subcrassus from the Ordovician of Ohio. This specimen came from an old collection, as they find very few of this type anymore. This crinoid has tendril-like arms and a very long anal sac which are beautifully displayed. The reverse side of the plate has been prepared to expose the ornate cup of the crinoid and the pentagonal stem. The crinoid has great color and contrast and is well centered on the rounded plate of matrix. This is a very nice example of this uncommon Ordovician crinoid from Ohio.
