Here is a large crinoid from the Silurian of Morocco. This is a specimen of Scyphocrinites sp. The crinoid exhibits good plate structure. The cup of the crinoid is composed of numerous stellate plates. The long, branching, uniserial arms display the fine pinnules. The crinoid retains a goodly portion of the stem. The fossil is 3-dimensionally preserved. The gray color of the crinoid contrasts nicely with the reddish-brown matrix. The crinoid is well centered on a large plate of limestone. There are many other crinoid fragments present on the matrix plate. This is a very affordable example of a large Scyphocrinites from Morocco.
