This is a nice specimen of a crinoid holdfast from the Waldron Shale of Indiana. The holdfast exhibits fine detail. The stem attachment point is quite evident. The multi-branching "roots" of the holdfast are nicely displayed. There is also a large, extremely 3-dimensional, brachiopod on the plate. The fossils have great color and wonderful contrast. They are well positioned on the natural plate of shale. The quarry where this specimen was found is now filled with water and closed to collecting. This is a very affordable specimen of a crinoid holdfast from the Silurian.
