This is a superb specimen of Orophocrinus stelliformis. This unusual star-shaped blastoid is from the Lower Burlington Formation of Missouri. The blastoid is extremely 3-dimensional and exhibits excellent detail. The anal opening is quite evident. The paired spiracular slits along the sides of the ambulacra are very nicely displayed. The fossil has great off-white color and contrasts nicely with the orangish-brown matrix. The blastoid is well centered on the chunk of limestone. There are a few crinoid fragments scattered an the block of matrix. This is one of the most detailed specimens of this fissiculate blastoid that we have seen. This is a very collectable specimen of this highly-prized blastoid.
