This is a very pretty crinoid from the Ordovician of Canada. This is Cupulocrinus jewetti. This crinoid exhibits excellent plate structure. The multi-branching, uniserial, arms are splayed out, making for an interesting display. A section of the stem is tightly attached to the cup of the crinoid. The cream-colored fossil contrasts nicely with the gray matrix. The crinoid is almost perfectly centered on the plate of limestone. There are also many fucoids (worm burrow trace fossils) on the slab. This is a very attractive crinoid from the Ordovician.
