This is a very "busy" plate from the Mississippian of Ralls County, Missouri. It is extremely unusual to find this many good specimens in such close proximity to each other. The plate contains 7 specimens of Cryptoblastus melo, a melon-shaped blastoid. There are two different species of Platycrinites, a camerate crinoid. There is one specimen of Dichocrinus sp., another camerate crinoid. One small horn coral is nicely preserved. A plethora of echinoderm fragments litters the slab. All of the fossils have nice off-white color that contrasts well with the orangish-brown matrix. The fossils are 3-dimensional and exhibit fine detail. The rectangular slab makes for a nice presentation. This is a very unique slab, displaying many echinoderms, from the Lower Burlington Limestone.
